The Cherner chair, straight from the imagination of the designer of the same name, is an all-plywood chair and was born in the late 1950s. Its creator studied at Columbia University and was totally inspired and imbued with the Bauhaus style.
With the high demand for American housing after World War II, he began his career by creating housing, as well as the furniture that came with it. This was in the late 1940s. Cherner already had a very good reputation, and was recognized in his field as an innovator. But his master stroke came a few years later with the chair that bore his name.
This plywood chair from the base to the back, having its armrests connected was an instant worldwide success. Other chairs or stools were designed, while keeping the base of this chair. His son, at the head of the Cherner Chair Company, will do everything possible to ensure that his father's creations have the fame we still attribute to him today.
