Consisting of several layers of plywood, which are then glued, heated and finally folded, the original LCW and DCW chairs, as well as the coffee table, were born after World War II, in 1946 but not marketed until the early 1950s. The duo Ray and Charles were inspired by the U.S. Navy because, the latter, used this technique to manufacture material.

This was due to the fact that plywood was no longer as popular as it had been in previous years. But it was at the end of the 20th century that production resumed, as the Mid-century Modern movement became more and more in demand.
